Description:
This box is made of thick shop-sawn bloodwood laminated over alder.
Looking a lot like Honduras mahogany in its lighter versions, bloodwood can range from dark to this reddish mahogany color. It is found in much of south and central America. It is not well known because of the difficulty of working its by-directional grain. Dense and heavy, I have veneered it to keep the box weight reasonably light.
End panels are wenge.
Finished with over ten coats of acrylic lacquer to fill its moderately deep grain.
